play quality - educated superheroes and princesses
secure transition - making children feel comfortable and secure
stories from the heart - connecting children with stories and our earth
It was very interesting that their are so many different research topics in the world. It's also surprising that we have a lot of the same types of research, and it would be very interesting to see the different results compared to Australia and the USA.
I also enjoyed looking at the website and looking at their childhood news and seeing what they do in their classrooms in Australia.
I explored this website and I too found it interesting that more educators are understanding that super heroes and princesses aren't so bad after all. Actually, if we observe the children while they are involved in this play we may find ways to include this in our lesson plan. We need to follow the interest of the children and not so much ours. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAloha Jamie,
ReplyDeleteI like your comment about similar research between Australia and the USA. I would like to know more about whether the results are similar or differ between countries. It's very important to utilize child observations into lessons plans because it doesn't make sense to make lesson plans where children lack interest. The concept of super heroes and princesses is such a fun activity for my preschooler and kindergarten. Focusing on the positive aspects in active learning and play, I have done lesson plans with heroes and princesses.
