I have not heard back from my international contacts yet and the website that was given for us to use for more information while we wait to hear back from them isnt working either. I am going to just talk about the wesbite I used during the discussion, i hope that is okay!
The website I looked at was www.childrensdefense.org. It speaks about how to help the poor communities get a better education and make sure that the children make it out of their poor homes alive and well. It says that poverty levels are at an all time low.
The best thing I saw on the website was this campaign called "Protect Children not Guns". It talks about how they are trying to get people to get rid of their guns and end the violence so that children can live save and long lives. Children die from stupid gun accidents more then it should.
The insights that I gained from looking at this website is never judge a child from where they come from. Give the child the best education you can give them to allow them to succeed and get into a better lifestyle.
Hi Jamie,
ReplyDeleteI agree with this campaign that children's defense fund is supporting. Children should never be in the presence of a gun in my personal opinion. Also I wanted to share that one of the most important things I learned this week was not to judge children based on where they come from of their families economic status.
Aloha Jamie,
ReplyDeleteI also haven't heard from any my contacts, but I do appreciate your insights into providing children with the best education you can possible give them. It's our attitude as well in committing to do our best as educators to provide a strong foundation for success. Research has shown how low expectations of students may generate poor teaching practices because of the teachers’ perceptions that little can be done for the students (Dooly, 2005). I hope you get some international contacts. Good luck to us both.
